Practice
Ceremony
Also known as: session, journey, sitting
A structured container for intentional psychedelic use, often guided by a facilitator, shaman, or therapist.
Ceremonies typically involve preparation (dietary restrictions, intention-setting), the experience itself (often with music, ritual elements, and a guide), and integration afterward. The term carries cultural weight, particularly in indigenous traditions where ceremonial use of plant medicines may span centuries of practice. In clinical settings, the equivalent is often called a "session," though the underlying principle of structured containment is similar.
